Inspiration, it's a funny thing...

Okay, so I had a creative lightning bolt hit me the other day. I was looking through Pinterest, as I do, when I came across this picture.

Light bulb!
It hit me, POW!! Just like that I had a new story idea. I scrambled around for my notebook and started scribbling. I didn't stop for about 30 minutes. I just wrote down every thought that popped into my head, then those made me think of other ideas and so on and so forth. My initial flash of inspiration had snowballed into a brilliant *ahem* story idea. I was thrilled, I still am.

I was thinking today why that happened. Was it fate? I could have been doing something else and missed this picture completely. What was is about that pic that set my neurons firing? I don't think I'll ever be able to answer that one, but I'm bloody glad that it did! :) If I'm feeling brave I might put some on here, we'll see.

Okay, I'm off to write some more.

See you next post,

Crafty things...

Hi there!

I like to think I'm a pretty creative person, but Pinterest!! It puts me to shame!! Lol. There is a whole wealth of ideas and tips on there. I should state that Pinterest comes with a serious health warning, If you value your sleep and free time, DO NOT SIGN UP!! You have been warned...

This is Lea. Say hello :p
I started using Pinterest as a way to gather ideas for my book. I found it useful as a tool, to help me picture characters and locations as I was writing. It soon became more than that though.

I am currently on a quest to finally sort out and organise my bedroom. *gasp!* It's been needing a serious going over for years, but I have never done it. I'm not that driven, and far more lazy than your average girl, so it has been getting worse and worse over the years. It had gotten so bad that the only floor space I had left was a foot wide path from the door to my bed! *hangs head in shame* I am happy to report that isn't the case anymore! :D My room is nowhere near finished, but there is considerably less crap in it now! lol. I have it all planned, and I've started to buy furniture for it too. This is where Pinterest has come into play.
I can just imagine this white!

There are so many ideas on there. I have spent HOURS looking at bedroom related pins. Annie Sloan paint, up-cycling and wonderful storage ideas that I can't believe I hadn't thought of before. I have bought a few pieces of furniture too. A dressing table, mirror and stool from my local charity shop, that I'm going to paint white. Also a gorgeous Edwardian style chest of drawers from eBay, that will also be seeing a paintbrush.

I have also found a lovely index card catalogue on eBay too. It's a small four drawer one that I'm planning to add legs too and use as my bedside table. I don't know if I will be painting that one though. Its nearly 100 years old and has a lovely patina on it. It feels kind of wrong to paint it. I think I'll clean up the brass a bit and then just wax it. I like all the knocks and scratches it has, I'd hate to cover them up. What do you think?

How gorgeous is this?!
Anyways, I'm sure I'll drive you guys mad with all the photo's and nattering about paint and colours and stuff I'll be doing over the next few weeks! I'm just so excited to really get started with this project. I miss doing things with my hands. Don't get me wrong, I love writing, but there is something special about crafting! :D

Hi there,

So as some of you may already know, I have another blog. It's the YABluewater blog and it is dedicated to YA Fiction. I set it up when I started a YA book club where I work. It has reviews, interviews, cover reveals, that sort of thing; as well as all the book club related stuff. I spend a lot of time over there! lol The thing is though, that I don't just read YA books and I don't want to share only book related things. That's why I set up this blog, so I could post non-YA book reviews, and share my most recent makes. Also so I can have somewhere to talk about my writing. So that's what I'm going to do here.

This part, the non-YA reviews part, is particularly exciting for me. There are SO MANY amazing books out there! I work in a book shop so I get to see them *all* the time! I have a long list of books that I want to review for you guys too! I'm looking forward to it :D I might start tomorrow, hehe.

Anyways, I'll see you next post,

Kaylie x

I find that the more I write, the more obsessed I become with milestones. I am proud to announce that I have, not even twenty minutes ago,  reached the 25k words milestone!

*waits for fanfare* *holds breath*

The silly thing is, no one else gives a stuff about it but me! So whats the big deal? It's about proof I suppose. This ever increasing number is proof that I'm doing something that I have always wanted to do. It's proof that every day day I come closer to actually reaching this goal that I have set myself.

Noah - A Little Snippet

I am writing a book. It's a fantasy book. It's also going to be a YA fantasy book... I think anyway. Here's a little snippet...

"Stupid Order, with their stupid Council, putting on a stupid babysitting job!" Noah muttered as he kicked a rock into the fire. He watched as the sparks flew up into the night like a swarm of fire-bugs.
"Why is she so special anyways?" Noah sat down, landing with a thump on the dirt next to the fire. He knew he should be watching this Lea girl, but it was the middle of the night, and she was asleep. How much trouble can one human girl get up to while asleep, right?

Hello! :)

So, this is just a quick post to say hi there! :0)

I find that  keep wanting to post about books that are not YA, so I thought that I would start another blog for such things. Then I thought "What about all the other things I'd like to post about, jewellery, shoes, make up, food, places I've been and things I've done?" So I thought I would add those to this blog too.

I warn you now, It will be a pretty random combination of things at times! lol But that is one of the many things that makes me me ;0)

See you next post,
